Ross Marler Park Fishing

6.9· Pier · Cinco Bayou, FL

Ross Marler Park is an Okaloosa County park on the bay side of Okaloosa Island, just east of the Brooks Bridge, with a fishing pier and an ADA-accessible fishing platform over the western end of Choctawhatchee Bay, plus two boat ramps, pavilions and restrooms. The water here is brackish and grassy, so the pier sees speckled trout, redfish and flounder most of the year, sheepshead on the pilings in late winter and spring, and Spanish mackerel, ladyfish and bluefish when bait pushes through in the warm months. Fish live shrimp under a cork, small jigs or fiddler crabs on a moving tide, early or late in the day. The park opens an hour before sunrise and closes an hour after sunset. Expect boat traffic at the ramps, Brooks Bridge construction next door and summer lightning.
