Okaloosa Island Pier Fishing

7.9· Pier · Cinco Bayou, FL

Also called The Island Pier

Fee to fish: Daily fishing pass includes license; walking pass also available (checked Sep 27, 2026)

Okaloosa Island Pier, now branded The Island Pier by its operator, stretches about 1,260 feet into the Gulf from Okaloosa Island in Fort Walton Beach, beside the Boardwalk restaurants on US 98. The end reaches deep emerald water that draws king mackerel, cobia and Spanish mackerel from spring to fall, and big tarpon in summer, while pompano, Gulf whiting and redfish feed in the troughs near the beach. Fish a moving tide in clean water, live bait off the end and spoons along the rails. The daily fishing pass includes your fishing license, and the pier sells bait and tackle, rents rods and serves snacks. Okaloosa County law bans shark fishing, chumming and blood-baiting from its beaches and swimming within 150 feet of the pier. Hazards are summer lightning, strong sun, crowded rails during runs and the long walk with gear.
