McKenney Park is a small City of St. Pete Beach park on Blind Pass Road with a short fishing pier over the sheltered channel between St. Pete Beach and Treasure Island's Sunset Beach, just south of the Blind Pass Road bridge and a little over a mile north of the mouth of Blind Pass. It is an easy, family-friendly place to fish for the bay-side species: sheepshead and black drum around the pilings in the cooler months, mangrove snapper through the summer, and snook, spotted seatrout and redfish along the channel edges on moving water. The city lists free parking, restrooms, a picnic pavilion, grills and a dog park at McKenney, and Egan Park next door adds a second fishing pier and a boat ramp. Tides are small and mixed, two uneven highs and lows most days, so fish either side of a change. City parks are open in daylight hours.
