Sunset Beach, Treasure Island Fishing

6.6· Beach · South Pasadena, FL

Free: No fee to fish; parking is paid or metered in city lots (checked Sep 27, 2026)

Sunset Beach is the narrow, residential southern end of Treasure Island, a strip of Gulf sand that runs down to the tip where Blind Pass meets the Gulf, a corner the city itself calls famous for fishing. On the open beach, snook hunt close to the sand in summer, pompano and Gulf kingfish feed on the bars in spring and fall, and Spanish mackerel, ladyfish and jacks chase bait; at the tip the pass current adds redfish, flounder and sheepshead. Tides are small and mixed, two uneven highs and lows most days, so time a session around a change. The Sunset Beach Pavilion reopened in June 2026 after storm repairs, with renovated restrooms. City code bans shark fishing and chumming on the beach and the Blind Pass shore, and the city closes the beach from 1 to 5 a.m.
