Morgan Park, Belleair Beach Fishing
5.4· Beach· Belleair Beach, FL
Morgan Park is the City of Belleair Beach's only public beach access, a small park on Gulf Boulevard at Morgan Drive with a pavilion, restrooms and metered parking. It opens onto a quiet stretch of Gulf of Mexico sand backed by waterfront homes, so the fishing is plain surf fishing with a fish-finder rig. Whiting and pompano are the usual surf catches on this part of the Pinellas coast, with spring and fall the best seasons, while summer brings small sharks, rays and the odd Spanish mackerel when bait is close. Fish the incoming tide near sunrise or after the crowd leaves, and stay well away from swimmers and any marked swim area. The city does not publish a fishing rule that we could read, so check the posted signs. Watch for rip currents, stingrays and summer lightning.
