Clearwater Beach Marina Pier Fishing

6.7· Pier· Belleair, FL

The Clearwater Beach Municipal Marina sits at the foot of the Memorial Causeway, and the city advertises a free fishing pier there, with a bait house beside it that sells rods, bait, line, ice and snacks. It is a small, sheltered harbor pier, a different animal from the long pay pier a short walk away. Fish live shrimp or pinfish on light tackle around the pilings and boat slips for sheepshead, mangrove snapper, redfish and the occasional snook, and work a small jig under the lights after dark for seatrout and ladyfish. Spanish mackerel and jacks pass through when bait schools run the pass in warm weather. The water is the salt of Clearwater Harbor, so tide matters more than season. Mind boat traffic, sun and summer lightning.
