Fee to fish: Per-vehicle plus per-adult entrance fee (checked Sep 27, 2026)

The north half of Skyway Fishing Pier State Park is the old Sunshine Skyway bridge approach on the Pinellas side, a long concrete deck you drive onto and fish beside your car over the fast water at the mouth of Tampa Bay. It is one of the region's best-known shore spots for Spanish mackerel and kingfish on the spring and fall runs, mangrove snapper through the summer nights, and sheepshead and grouper on the rubble in winter, with tarpon and snook under the lights in the warm months. Moving tide is everything: the first and last couple of hours of a strong run fish best. The park is open around the clock, with a bait shop and lights. Watch for hooked seabirds, heavy lead on strong tides and summer lightning with nowhere to hide.
