Osprey Fishing Pier is a small Sarasota County pier off Main Street in Osprey, reaching out over the shallow, grassy water of Little Sarasota Bay just south of Historic Spanish Point. It is a quiet place to drop live shrimp beside the pilings for sheepshead, mangrove snapper and black drum, or to drift a popping cork over the grass for spotted seatrout, with redfish and snook working the shoreline edges. Ladyfish and jacks chase bait on the moving tide from spring to fall. The outer end of the pier is closed after hurricane damage, with repairs expected by 2027, but the rest of the deck is open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. and parking is available. There are no restrooms listed, so bring water, bait and sun protection, and leave the deck when lightning builds.
