Point of Rocks Fishing

6.8· Beach · Sarasota County, FL

Free: No entry fee at the beach access (checked Sep 27, 2026)

Point of Rocks is the rocky south end of Crescent Beach on Siesta Key, the only natural rock reef along this stretch of powder-white sand. Limestone ledges run into the Gulf from the beach, and snook and mangrove snapper live among them in the warm months, with sheepshead in winter, Spanish mackerel and ladyfish passing in spring and fall, and pompano and whiting in the sand troughs either side. Wade the edges at first light and cast white jigs or live shrimp along the rocks, or drop shrimp for snapper at the ledges. The county beach access off Point of Rocks Road is for pedestrians only, with no parking, so many anglers walk south along the beach from Siesta Beach's free lots. The rocks are sharp and slick, snorkelers use the reef, and summer storms come fast.
