Siesta Key Beach Access 5 Fishing
6.0· Beach· Sarasota, FL
Beach Access 5 is one of Sarasota County's numbered public accesses on Siesta Key, at Ocean Boulevard and Beach Road a short walk from Siesta Key Village. It puts you on the Gulf of Mexico surf with a small lot of about 25 spaces, a much quieter option than the big public beach down the road. Anglers on this stretch of Siesta Key work the surf for whiting, pompano, ladyfish and jacks, with snook and redfish cruising the trough at dawn and dusk, mostly on live shrimp or sand fleas fished on the bottom. Fall and winter are the favorite months for surf fishing here. Fish away from any swimmers and well outside buoyed swim areas, and expect busy sand in midday. Watch for rip currents, stingrays underfoot and summer lightning.
