Apollo Beach, Canaveral National Seashore Fishing

6.9· Beach · Oak Hill, FL

Fee to fish: National seashore entrance fee, valid seven days (checked Sep 27, 2026)

Apollo Beach is the northern, Volusia County district of Canaveral National Seashore south of New Smyrna Beach: undeveloped Atlantic beach backed by dunes, reached along a park road with boardwalk crossings from its parking areas. It is classic surf fishing for whiting, pompano and bluefish, with redfish, black drum, jacks and small sharks mixed in and the mullet run bringing more action in the fall. Fish a two-hook bottom rig with shrimp or bought sand fleas in the troughs on a moving tide; the Atlantic gives two highs and two lows a day. The park charges an entrance fee at the Apollo entrance station, closes at night, and bans digging for bait and fishing in designated swimming or surfing areas. Bring water, shade and everything you need, and watch for rip currents and summer lightning.
