Apollo Beach Parking Area 4, Canaveral National Seashore Fishing

6.7· Beach· Oak Hill, FL

Parking Area 4 is the fourth beach lot on the Apollo Beach road in Canaveral National Seashore, about a mile south of Area 3 along the same empty Atlantic beach. Local guides group Lots 2 through 4 as the surf-fishing favorites because the sandbars and troughs keep moving there, and Area 4 offers the same chance at whiting, pompano, bluefish and redfish with fewer people than the more famous lots on busy weekends. Fish the trough with cut shrimp or sand fleas on a pompano rig, or work a spoon when bait is flipping. The beach is wild and unguarded, so plan for rip currents, afternoon lightning, sun and biting insects. An entrance fee is charged at the seashore gate, and the road and lots have had repairs and storm closures, so check the park's alerts before you go.
