Seminole Rest Fishing

6.1· Pier · Oak Hill, FL

Seminole Rest is a small, 25-acre historic site of Canaveral National Seashore on River Road in Oak Hill, and the National Park Service allows fishing from its dock on the lagoon. It is a quiet, walk-in spot: park in the paved lot, follow the pathway past the two historic buildings and fish the dock for spotted seatrout, redfish and black drum, with sheepshead in the cooler months and ladyfish and jacks in summer. The lagoon has very little tide here, so calm, clear water and low light matter most, and live shrimp under a cork or on the bottom is the simplest way to fish it. Seminole Rest is closed from sunset to sunrise, pets must stay on a short leash on the pathway, and bicycles and boat launching are not allowed. Bring everything you need.
