Beachway Avenue Beach Access, New Smyrna Beach Fishing
6.5· Beach· Ponce Inlet, FL
Beachway Avenue is the northernmost drive-on beach ramp in New Smyrna Beach, and it opens onto the quiet northern stretch of the city's Atlantic shoreline between the busy central beaches and Smyrna Dunes. Surf anglers work the sand here for whiting and pompano, with bluefish, Spanish mackerel and redfish in season, flounder in the troughs and the odd small shark after dark. Because you can drive onto the sand, you can set up beside the best-looking trough and keep a cooler and rod holders close, which is the main reason people choose this ramp over a walk-on access. Fish the rising tide around first and last light. The city charges a per-vehicle fee to drive on the beach. Watch rip currents, soft sand and beach traffic.
