New Smyrna Beach North Causeway Fishing

7.6· Bridge · New Smyrna Beach, FL

Free: Free entry to both piers; parking is limited (checked Sep 27, 2026)

The North Causeway crosses the Indian River North in New Smyrna Beach, and it gives shore anglers two free piers that reach under its drawbridge: the pier at the North Causeway boat ramp park on the west side and the 250-foot pier at Buena Vista Park on the east side. Both put you over the channel a few miles inside Ponce de Leon Inlet, where the tide brings through snook, redfish, black drum, sheepshead, mangrove snapper, seatrout and flounder. Fish live shrimp or mullet on the moving tide, tight to the bridge pilings. Both parks are free, open sunrise to sunset, and have restrooms. Boat traffic, sharp pilings and summer lightning are the hazards, and a bridge net is essential.
