Callalisa Park, New Smyrna Beach Fishing
6.4· Backwater· New Smyrna Beach, FL
Callalisa Park is a small city park on the northwest corner of the South Causeway bridge, where Callalisa Creek meets the Indian River in New Smyrna Beach. The visitor bureau lists fishing among its uses, and the bank is a regular spot for locals. The water is brackish and shallow, with a muddy creek mouth beside deeper lagoon channel, and the catch shifts with rain. Redfish, snook, trout and jacks are the targets, with sheepshead and black drum near the bridge in the cooler months. Anglers fish live shrimp or mullet along the creek edge and the causeway shoreline. Parking is free, the park has no restrooms, and traffic on the causeway is close by.
