Bethune Point Park Fishing

6.5· Pier · South Daytona, FL

Bethune Point Park is a City of Daytona Beach riverfront park on the Halifax River, next to Halifax Harbor Marina, with a fishing pier that runs about 100 feet out to a 130-foot T dock. The T puts you over open river where sheepshead and black drum gather around the pilings in the cooler months, redfish and spotted seatrout feed along the edges, and mangrove snapper, jacks and ladyfish arrive with summer. Shrimp on the bottom beside the pilings is the dependable approach, with a popping cork for trout at first light. The river's tide is small here, twice a day, so moving water and calm, clear conditions matter most. The park also has a boat ramp, restrooms, pavilions, picnic tables, a skateboard park, ballfields and a new playground. Watch for boat traffic from the ramp and the marina, and summer lightning.
