Manatee Island Park Fishing Pier

5.8· Pier· Holly Hill, FL

Manatee Island Park is a small park on an island in the Halifax River, joined to Daytona Beach's downtown riverfront by a pedestrian bridge. It is part of the city's Riverfront Esplanade and has restrooms, picnic pavilions, a playground, an amphitheater and a fishing pier, which Daytona Beach's visitor bureau lists among the city's river piers. Anglers catch spotted seatrout, redfish, black drum and sheepshead here, with flounder and jacks mixed in, and the river holds snook in the warm months. Fish moving water with live shrimp or finger mullet on light tackle, and drop crabs against the pilings in winter. The park is walk-in, so travel light. Watch for boat wakes, summer lightning and event crowds near the stage.
