Sun Splash Park, Daytona Beach Fishing
6.2· Beach· Holly Hill, FL
Sun Splash Park is a Volusia County beachfront park on South Atlantic Avenue in Daytona Beach, with a 162-space off-beach lot, restrooms, showers, a splash pad and over 600 feet of direct beach. Visitors fish the surf here as they do along the rest of the Daytona coast, where whiting, pompano, bluefish and flounder are the usual catch and a local tourism guide describes surf fishing as a pastime of the beach. Because the park has a lifeguard headquarters and a busy swimming beach, the best fishing is early morning, late evening or off-season, when you can cast well away from swimmers. Rip currents, sun, heat and summer lightning are the main hazards, and the county charges a daily fee for its off-beach lots.
