Indian River Lagoon Park, New Smyrna Beach Fishing
6.1· Backwater· New Smyrna Beach, FL
Indian River Lagoon Park is a 90-acre natural park at the end of Sandpiper Avenue in south New Smyrna Beach, where trails run out to the shallow flats of Browns Bay and the Indian River. The city's visitor pages describe two docks, one over the estuary and one floating over Browns Bay, and a mile-long dirt trail to a fishing pier. Visitors report fishing from the dock and a small rocky shoreline. This is quiet backwater fishing for redfish, seatrout, black drum and snook along the grass and oyster edges, best on light tackle with live shrimp or soft plastics. Dolphins and manatees are common. Parking is free, and the park is open from morning to early evening. Bring bug spray and water, and expect a walk to reach the docks.
