27th Avenue Beachfront Park, New Smyrna Beach Fishing
5.6· Beach· New Smyrna Beach, FL
27th Avenue Beachfront Park, at 3701 South Atlantic Avenue, is the southernmost drive-on ramp on New Smyrna Beach and the point where beach driving ends: south of it the sand is for walkers and cyclists. That makes it a quieter surf-fishing access than the busy Flagler Avenue end of town. Anglers walk or drive north of the ramp, or walk south into the vehicle-free sand, and fish the troughs and sandbars for whiting, pompano, bluefish and Spanish mackerel, with redfish, flounder and the odd shark in season. New Smyrna's guides list surf fishing as a draw on this beach. Bring your own bait, since there is no shop on the sand. Rip currents and beach traffic are the hazards, and Volusia County does not allow chumming.
