Riverwalk Park, Port Orange Fishing
6.0· Pier· South Daytona, FL
Riverwalk Park is the City of Port Orange's waterfront park on the west bank of the Halifax River, a short walk north of the Dunlawton Bridge. Its north section has fishing piers for adults and children beside a boardwalk, a paddle launch and a concession stand, while the south section is built around a splash pad, a playground and an event lawn. The Halifax is a tidal arm of the Intracoastal Waterway, so the piers see sheepshead and black drum on the pilings in winter, redfish and flounder along the edges in fall, and seatrout and mangrove snapper when the water is warm. Fish the moving tide with live shrimp or fiddler crabs on light tackle. The park is open dawn to dusk. Expect strollers and paddlers on the boardwalk, and boat wakes on the river.
