Woolley Park Fishing Pier

6.5· Pier · Wakulla County, FL

Free: No posted day-use fee for the park (checked Sep 27, 2026)

The Woolley Park Fishing Pier runs out from Wakulla County's waterfront park in Panacea over Dickerson Bay, a shallow bay of grass flats and oyster bars opening onto Apalachee Bay. Destroyed by Hurricane Michael in 2018, it was rebuilt and reopened in July 2022, and it is an easy place in Panacea to fish without a boat. Speckled trout and redfish work the grass edges, sheepshead and black drum feed around the pilings in the cooler months, and Spanish mackerel, ladyfish and bluefish chase bait off the end in summer. Live shrimp under a cork, or dropped beside the pilings, does most of the work. Most days bring two uneven high and low tides, and the shallow bay fishes best on a rising, moving tide. The county lists park and pier hours of 6 a.m. to midnight, with parking and a restroom. Watch for summer lightning and slippery boards.
