Grady Brown Park is a Walton County park on the north shore of Choctawhatchee Bay at the Freeport end of the US 331 Clyde B. Wells Bridge, opened in 2019 and named for a local commercial fisherman. Anglers fish the park's sandy bay shore near the bridge for speckled trout, redfish, black drum and sheepshead, with flounder, white trout and croaker in the cooler months and ladyfish chasing bait in summer. Fish live shrimp under a cork or on a jig head along the shoreline, and cut bait on the bottom for drum and reds. The county lists restrooms, drinking water, picnic areas and ADA access, and the park has two boat ramps, an accessible kayak launch and a boat wash. Tides are tiny in the bay, so wind and moving water matter most. Stay off the highway bridge, keep clear of the ramps and leave at the first thunder.
