Cessna Landing Park Fishing

Cessna Landing Park is a Walton County park where County Highway 393 meets Hogtown Bayou, a sheltered arm of Choctawhatchee Bay in Santa Rosa Beach, with a short fishing pier, docks and a public boat ramp. Hogtown Bayou is a popular local fishing spot: speckled trout and redfish are the main targets, with flounder, black drum and sheepshead around the structure and ladyfish and big jacks chasing bait in summer. Fish live shrimp under a cork or soft plastics at dawn and dusk, and fiddler crabs beside the pilings for sheepshead in spring. The county lists restrooms, drinking water, parking, picnic pavilions, a grill and a playground, and the park is ADA accessible. Tides are tiny inside the bay, so wind and moving water matter most. Keep clear of the ramp and boat traffic, and leave the pier at the first thunder.
