Cedar Point Launch is a city boat and kayak launch at 4098 North Beach Boulevard in Bay St. Louis, tucked behind the casino where the Jourdan River opens into the Bay of St. Louis. Besides the two-lane ramp it has a kayak launch, restrooms, a small pavilion with a bench and a bay wall beside the ramp, which a local magazine once called a good place to fish the bay. The brackish water at the river mouth holds redfish, speckled trout, flounder and black drum, with sheepshead in winter and plenty of catfish in summer. Fish a moving tide with live shrimp under a cork or a soft plastic along the drop. Boats launch all day, so fish away from the ramp lanes, and keep an eye on the weather over the open bay.
