Pete's Landing is the City of Diamondhead's new launch at the end of Noma Drive, on the Jourdan River just above the I-10 bridge. Built with state Tidelands money and named for Peter Casano, one of the city's earliest residents, it has a boardwalk and fishing pier along the riverbank, an accessible kayak launch, a boat ramp, restrooms and parking, and the city calls it a great place to fish. The water is brackish, so the catch shifts with rain and river flow: speckled trout run up the Jourdan toward the deep water by the interstate in late fall and winter, and redfish, black drum and flounder feed along the banks, with bass and bream after heavy rain. Fish shrimp or minnows on the bottom or under a cork. Watch for fast boat traffic on the river.
