Kings Bay Park, Crystal River Fishing
6.7· Pier· Crystal River, FL
Kings Bay Park is the City of Crystal River's waterfront park on the northern edge of Kings Bay, a spring-fed bay whose brackish water runs out to the Gulf through a maze of canals and creeks. A wide wooden pier and dock system gives walk-up anglers a place to fish without a boat, and the city lists a fishing dock among the park's amenities. Expect sheepshead, black drum and seatrout in the cooler months, with mangrove snapper, jacks and the odd snook or redfish in the warm months, plus catfish and pinfish all year. Live shrimp on a light rig does most of the work. The park is open daily from 8 a.m. to sunset and there is a pay station for parking. Watch for kayak and paddleboard traffic near the launch, and for summer lightning.
