Ozello Community Park Fishing

6.1· Backwater· Crystal River, FL

Ozello Community Park sits at the end of the Ozello Trail, a winding road across salt marsh to the Ozello keys, at Pirate Point on the tidal creeks of the St. Martins Marsh. It is a small county park with a boat ramp and picnic area overlooking the water, and anglers fish the shoreline near the ramp for redfish, spotted seatrout, mullet and whatever else bites. Expect redfish and seatrout on the moving tide, sheepshead and black drum around the oyster edges in winter, and snook in the warm months. The county's Ozello Fishing Pier is closed pending repair, so this park shoreline is the way onto the water on foot. Bring bait, watch the boat ramp traffic, and plan around summer storms and biting insects.
