Chokoloskee Bridge Fishing

6.9· Bridge · Collier County, FL

Free: No fee to fish from the bridge or seawalls (checked Sep 27, 2026)

The Chokoloskee Bridge carries County Road 29 over the single opening in the causeway between Everglades City and Chokoloskee Island, so every tide squeezes through it between dark backcountry water and Chokoloskee Bay. Collier County rebuilt it in 2018 with an 8 ft sidewalk behind a barrier wall and kept the seawalls at its ends, which the county described as a platform used by many for fishing. Anglers work the current and the line where the two waters meet for snook, redfish, mangrove snapper, sheepshead, trout, jacks and ladyfish, with tarpon moving through the outside bays in spring. Tides run twice a day on most days and often move 2-3 ft. There are no facilities at the bridge and cast nets are banned on it; road traffic and fast water are the main hazards.
