Tigertail Beach Park Fishing

6.4· Beach · Marco Island, FL

Free: No entry fee; visitors without a county beach permit pay to park (checked Sep 27, 2026)

Tigertail Beach Park is Collier County's park on the northwest shore of Marco Island, and one of the most unusual shore-fishing spots on this coast. The developed park faces a shallow saltwater lagoon, and across it lies Sand Dollar Island, a sandbar that became a long, wild beach after Hurricane Wilma. Anglers fish the lagoon and its tidal pools for snook, redfish, trout and ladyfish, then wade across to cast the open Gulf surf for snook in the trough, pompano, whiting, mackerel and summer blacktips. Fish a rising tide at dawn with jigs or shrimp, and bring your bait, because city code bars collecting crabs and other crustaceans on the beach. Visitors without a county beach permit pay to park, the park is open 8 a.m. to sunset, and there are restrooms. The lagoon crossing can be waist-deep, and part of the beach is a closed bird nesting area.
