Collier-Seminole State Park Fishing

6.4· Backwater · Collier County, FL

Fee to fish: State park entrance fee per vehicle; discounted for single-occupant vehicles (checked Sep 27, 2026)

Collier-Seminole State Park lies on the Tamiami Trail southeast of Naples, and its boat basin opens onto the Blackwater River, a tidal mangrove river that winds several miles out to Blackwater Bay and the Ten Thousand Islands. The park lists fishing from the basin seawall among its accessible amenities, so this is an easy, level place to fish brackish backcountry water without a boat. Snook, mangrove snapper and redfish work the mangrove edges and the basin, sheepshead and black drum move in over winter, and jacks, ladyfish and small tarpon show in the warm months. Fish the moving tide with live shrimp or small baitfish. The park opens 8 a.m. to sunset with a per-vehicle entrance fee. Alligators and crocodiles live here, so keep back from the water's edge.
