Pensacola Beach Gulf Pier Fishing

8.2· Pier · Gulf Breeze, FL

Fee to fish: Daily fishing pass required at the gate; cheaper walk pass exists (checked Sep 27, 2026)

Pensacola Beach Gulf Pier runs about 1,470 feet off Casino Beach on Santa Rosa Island, clearing two sandbars to reach roughly 20 feet of clear green water at the end. It is the Panhandle's classic big-fish pier: king mackerel and cobia from the end platform in spring and summer, Spanish mackerel and bluefish chasing bait along the middle rails, and pompano, whiting and redfish in the troughs close to the beach. Spring (April and May) and fall (September and October) are the peak runs, and a moving tide with clean water fishes best. You pay a daily fishing pass at the gate, the posted hours are sunrise to sunset, and bait, tackle and rod and cart rentals are on site. Shark fishing is not allowed from the pier. The main hazards are summer lightning, crowded rails on busy days, and big fish on heavy gear.
