Perdido Key Beach Access 1 Fishing

5.6· Beach· Perdido Beach, FL

Perdido Key Beach Access 1 is a small Escambia County public access at the south end of Sandy Key Drive, just west of Johnson Beach, with free dedicated parking and a short walk to the Gulf. Unlike the national seashore beach next door it has no gate and no entrance fee, which makes it a handy place for an early surf cast. Anglers here work the troughs for whiting and pompano from spring through fall, with redfish along the first bar in autumn and Spanish mackerel and bluefish when bait runs close. A two-hook bottom rig and fresh shrimp covers most of it. Hours are sunrise to sunset, the lot is small and fills on summer weekends, and rip currents and storms are the main hazards. Parking along Perdido Key Drive is not allowed.
