Perdido Key Beach Access 2 Fishing

5.9· Beach · Escambia County, FL

Perdido Key Beach Access 2 is a half-acre Escambia County access on the Gulf side of Perdido Key Drive, roughly midway between Perdido Key State Park and the National Seashore's Johnson Beach, with a small gravel lot, restrooms and a sand walkover through the dunes. It is the Perdido Key access where the county stations summer lifeguards, so in season anglers head down the beach, away from the guarded water. The surf here gives pompano in spring and fall, Gulf whiting from late fall into spring and redfish in autumn, with Spanish mackerel, bluefish and ladyfish in the warm months. A double-drop rig with shrimp or sand fleas is the standard approach. Tides are slight and usually once a day, so surf and clarity matter most. Parking is limited, and rip currents and summer lightning are the main hazards.
