Flagler Beach at 13th Street North Fishing
5.8· Beach· Flagler Beach, FL
This is a street-end beach access on North Oceanshore Boulevard (A1A) in Flagler Beach, a little over a mile north of the city's lifeguarded center and its pier. A dune walkover leads to the open Atlantic surf, where anglers cast baits past the sandbars for whiting, pompano and bluefish. Fish the troughs on a rising tide with sand fleas, fresh shrimp or Fishbites on a two-hook bottom rig, and carry a longer rod to reach the second bar. Spanish mackerel and the odd redfish or flounder show up as the water warms or the bait moves through. There is no dedicated parking lot; cars park along the roadside and not between midnight and 6 a.m. The beach has no lifeguards this far north, so watch for rip currents and lightning.
