Jungle Hut Park Fishing

Jungle Hut Park is a two-acre Flagler County beach park at the end of Jungle Hut Road in the Hammock, north of Flagler Beach, where a dune walkover drops onto a beach broken by coquina rock. The county warns that the rocks and strong undercurrents make it a poor swimming beach, and the rock is also what draws surf anglers: the rock edges and the sand pockets between them hold sheepshead, black drum and redfish in the cooler months, while whiting, pompano and bluefish work the open sand either side. Shrimp, sand fleas and clams fished on the bottom beside the rocks take most fish, with spoons for blues and Spanish mackerel. Tides run twice a day over several feet. Parking is paved, the park keeps dawn-to-11 p.m. hours, and slippery rock and rip currents are the dangers.
