Waterfront Park is the City of Palm Coast's 20-acre park on the Intracoastal Waterway, with a fishing pier, a floating dock and paths that tie into the city's trail network. The pier gives a comfortable platform over the waterway for redfish, spotted seatrout, black drum and flounder, with sheepshead in the cold months and snapper, jacks and ladyfish in the warm ones. Drift a live shrimp under a float or soak one on a light bottom rig while the current is moving; the tide is modest this far from any inlet. The gates open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day, so this is a daytime spot, and city code bans nets in its parks, so bring your bait. A restroom, three picnic pavilions, a covered patio, a playground and parking make it an easy family outing, and visitors often see manatees and dolphins from the waterside trail.
