MalaCompra Park Fishing

MalaCompra Park is a Flagler County beach park on Malacompra Road in the Hammock area of Palm Coast, and the county lists fishing among its features on a stretch of coast with coquina rock formations. The rock changes the fishing: sheepshead, black drum and redfish feed around it in the cooler months, while whiting, pompano and bluefish work the sandy troughs nearby. Fish fiddler crabs, sand fleas or shrimp close to the rock edges and a pompano rig on the open sand, best from the middle of the incoming tide to high water. The county says the beach is not suitable for swimming. There are restrooms with an outdoor shower and plenty of parking, and the park is open from dawn to 11 p.m. Watch your footing on wet rock and stay off it in heavy surf.
