River to Sea Preserve Fishing

6.5· Beach · Marineland, FL

Free: Free to enter this county/town preserve (checked Sep 27, 2026)

River to Sea Preserve spans the thin strip of land at Marineland from the Atlantic to the Matanzas River: 90 acres of maritime scrub owned jointly by Flagler County and the Town of Marineland, with fishing among the uses the county lists. Shore anglers park at the main entrance on the west side of A1A, cross the highway and take a sand path over the dune to a quiet beach where patches of coquina rock line the water's edge. Whiting, pompano and bluefish work the sandy troughs, sheepshead and black drum nose around the rock, redfish arrive as the water cools and small sharks cruise in summer. Paddlers can also launch from the river-side ramp to fish the Intracoastal for seatrout and reds. Shrimp, sand fleas and cut mullet cover most situations, best on a rising tide. The preserve is free and open dawn to 11 p.m.
