Fee to fish: State park entrance fee per vehicle (checked Sep 27, 2026)

Washington Oaks Gardens State Park stretches from the Atlantic to the Matanzas River south of Marineland, and it gives anglers two very different kinds of water. On the ocean side, a beach of orange coquina rock ledges holds sheepshead, black drum, redfish and bluefish, with whiting and pompano in the sand troughs between the rocks. On the river side, the park's seawall on the Matanzas River gives seatrout, redfish, drum and flounder. Use shrimp, sand fleas or fiddler crabs near the rocks and a popping cork on the river. The park is open 8 a.m. to sunset for a per-vehicle fee; during October 2026 parts of it may close on some days for maintenance, and the visitor center is temporarily closed. The rocks are slippery and sharp, and summer storms bring lightning.
