Frank Pate Park Fishing

7.0· Pier · Port St. Joe, FL

Free: Free city park; boat launch fees are separate (checked Sep 27, 2026)

Frank Pate Park is the City of Port St. Joe's waterfront park on St. Joseph Bay, where US 98 meets US 71, with a much-photographed fishing pier, a four-lane boat launch, restrooms and a fish cleaning station. St. Joseph Bay is clear, grassy and very productive, so the pier and the shoreline beside it give speckled trout, redfish and flounder most of the year, sheepshead in the cooler months, and Spanish mackerel, bluefish and ladyfish in summer. Fish live shrimp under a cork or a soft plastic over the grass on a moving tide, early and late in the day. It is an easy spot with parking, a playground and a covered pavilion. Watch for boats at the launch, summer lightning and heat.
