George Core Park, Port St. Joe Fishing
6.0· Flats· Port St. Joe, FL
George Core Park, also called Lighthouse Park, is a small City of Port St. Joe park on the St. Joseph Bay waterfront, home to the relocated Cape San Blas Lighthouse. The city describes calm, shallow bay water and natural sea bed running hundreds of feet out from the park's west end, a spot where people play, fish or cool off. That makes it a wading and light-tackle place rather than a pier: you stand on the sand or knee-deep on the bottom and cast to grass edges for seatrout, redfish and flounder, with whiting and pompano possible when the water is clean. It is part of the Bay Walk Trail, so a short stroll links it to the other city bay parks. Expect sun, swimmers on hot days and stingrays in the shallows.
