Jenkins Creek Park is a small Hernando County park on Shoal Line Boulevard near Hernando Beach, where freshwater springs and canals feed a tidal creek that winds through salt marsh to the Gulf. It has a fishing pier, repaired after the 2024 hurricanes, a launch for small boats and canoes, and a boardwalk across the road to the larger Linda Pedersen Park, where you can also fish from the bank. Redfish, spotted seatrout and snook work the creek and marsh edges, sheepshead and black drum move in around the structure in the cooler months, and mangrove snapper, jacks and ladyfish show up in summer. Live shrimp on a light jighead or under a cork is the standby. Fish a moving tide, since the creek and flats run shallow at low water. Manatees are often seen here. Watch for summer lightning, slippery boards and boats at the launch.
