Green Bridge Fishing Pier

Free: No fee to fish the pier (checked Sep 27, 2026)

The Green Bridge Fishing Pier is a surviving section of the old Green Bridge, kept by the City of Palmetto as a public fishing pier that runs about 2,000 feet out from Riverside Park West beside the modern bridge over the Manatee River. The brackish, tidal water holds snook, redfish, sheepshead and black drum around the old bridge pilings, spotted seatrout on the channel edges, mangrove snapper in summer, and jacks and the odd tarpon in the channel. A moving tide fishes best, especially the outgoing in the evening. City code keeps Riverside Park open 24 hours, and there are restrooms at the park. The deck is the old roadway: wide, level and concrete. Watch for summer lightning, heat and a slick deck after rain.
