Tea Table Relief Bridge Fishing

Free: No fee to fish from public ground at bridge ends (checked Sep 27, 2026)

Tea Table Relief Bridge is the short US 1 span at mile marker 79.8 in Islamorada, between Upper Matecumbe Key and Tea Table Key, and a well-known tarpon spot. Much of that fishing is done from boats, but a careful shore angler can fish from public ground at the bridge ends, where the tide rips between the Atlantic and Florida Bay. Mangrove snapper and jacks bite on the moving tide, barracuda hold in the current, and tarpon gather under the bridge at night from spring into early summer. Dawn and dusk on a strong tide are best. There is no catwalk, parking is tight and the marina at the Upper Matecumbe end is private, so keep a low profile and fish only from public ground. Beware of highway traffic and the tide.
