Williams Pier, Gulfport Fishing

6.9· Pier · Gulfport, FL

Free: Free admission; pier open 24 hours (checked Sep 27, 2026)

Williams Pier is Gulfport's free public fishing pier, running 521 feet from the waterfront at 54th Street South into Boca Ciega Bay beside the city beach. It puts a shore angler over deeper bay water: sheepshead and black drum work the pilings in winter and spring, spotted seatrout and redfish feed over the surrounding grass, mangrove snapper and snook move in through the warm months, and Spanish mackerel and ladyfish chase bait in spring and fall. Tides here are small and mixed, two uneven highs and lows most days, so fish the stronger water either side of a change. The city finished storm repairs in September 2025 and lists the pier as free and open 24 hours, with exterior lighting, benches and a fish cleaning table. Watch for summer lightning and a slippery wet deck, and bring your own bait.
