Dunedin Causeway Fishing

6.9· Bridge · Dunedin, FL

Free: No fee; free parking along the causeway (checked Sep 27, 2026)

Dunedin Causeway runs 2.5 miles across St. Joseph Sound from Dunedin to Honeymoon Island State Park, with beaches along its sides and two bridges whose channels carry the tide. Anglers fish the shoreline and bridge approaches for snook in summer and fall, spotted seatrout and redfish over the grass flats, Spanish mackerel and bluefish in the channels, and sheepshead and mangrove snapper around the bridge structure. Fish a moving tide, especially at dawn and dusk. Parking along the causeway is free and it is open 5 a.m. to 11 p.m., with a sheriff's permit needed to fish later. Watch for road traffic, boat wakes, stingrays in the shallows and summer lightning.
