Dunedin Causeway North Side Fishing

6.3· Beach· Dunedin, FL

The north side of the Dunedin Causeway is a strip of sandy bank between the causeway's two bridges, looking out over the grass flats of St. Joseph Sound. Anglers walk or wade the shoreline with light spinning gear, working the edge of the seagrass for spotted seatrout, redfish, ladyfish and jacks, with flounder and sheepshead around the bridge pilings at either end. The Sound is shallow and clear, so the best bites come at first light and late in the day, and a moving tide helps. Free parking runs along the roadway beside the water, restrooms and a concession stand sit a short way west, and the causeway is open 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. Motorized boats cannot launch from this side. Watch traffic on the road shoulder and summer lightning.
