Honeymoon Island State Park Fishing

7.4· Beach · Dunedin, FL

Fee to fish: State park entrance fee per vehicle (checked Sep 27, 2026)

Honeymoon Island State Park is a barrier island at the end of the Dunedin Causeway with about four miles of Gulf beach, a sandy south end on Hurricane Pass and grass flats along St. Joseph Sound. Anglers wade and surf-fish for snook along the beach in summer, pompano and whiting in the cooler months, Spanish mackerel when bait runs close, and seatrout and redfish on the sound-side flats. The moving water around Hurricane Pass is the pick at the south end, where the park's pet beach is. Fish early, on a moving tide, with live shrimp, sand fleas you bring with you or small jigs. The park charges $8 per vehicle and is open 8 a.m. to sunset. Watch for stingrays, lightning, currents in the pass and the deep cut at the north end of the sand spit.
